Driver Training

At Cool Blue we offer a range of professional driving qualifications, development and assessment. We offer driver training across a wide range of development areas including:

We have fully qualified Driving Instructors (ADIs) and Fleet Instructors who are specialist in their field, fully qualified assessors and hold teaching and training qualifications.

Fleet Driver Training

Fleet Driver Training is aimed at reducing the personal and financial costs to a company or organisation of road traffic incidents involving staff and the public.

Some 65% of road traffic crashes/accidents involve a vehicle driven on company business. Companies are not immune from the real costs of crashes/accidents involving staff whilst driving in their own time for personal and private business. Added to the personal suffering of employees and families, organisations can suffer tremendous financial loss through down time, lost production etc when a partner or family member is involved in a road traffic incident.

The benefits of such programmes extend beyond the company or organisation as information is disseminated to family, friends and the general public.

Courses can combine both theory and practical training. The theory aspect looks at the risks to individuals and offers coping strategies tailored to the organisation. The practical in-car assessments and training raise awareness of the individual driver to their responsibilities.

Advanced Driving

We provide high quality Advanced Driving training and prepare individuals for Advance and Special Advanced driving tests through the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) and Diamond (DIA) Driving Instructors Association. We will prepare you for your test using modern advanced driving defensive driving techniques based on the Police Manual and publication, Roadcraft. We issue all of our candidates with a copy of Roadcraft which is an essential part of their Advanced Driving course. We will arrange your test and ensure you receive the correct training to give you the best possible chance of passing first time, with ongoing support, action planning and assessment.

Driving Instruction

We offer professional driving instruction by Driving Standards Agency (DSA) qualified ADIs (Approved Driving Instructors, some of which are also Fleet Diploma Accredited, Assessors and Qualified Teachers and Trainers. Our driving instruction programme is one to one instruction and follows the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) scheme of work for professional driving and tuition, including the new independent drive which now forms part of the UK driving test.

We recognise that driving is a lifelong skill and probably one of the most important qualifications you will achieve. It is for this reason that we ensure a high quality of driver tuition and support throughout, including the theory test and lifelong learning driving skills.

Pass Plus

Pass Plus Is a short course taken once your driving test has been passed and you are a fully qualified car licence holder. Pass Plus will teach you further skills such as motorway driving, country lane driving, city centre and night-time driving techniques. On completion you will be issued with a pass plus certificate which is sent direct from the Driving Standards Agency. This will afford you the opportunity of cheaper car insurance, as well as building on your new driving skills and developing them to a higher standard. There is no formal test for Pass Plus, however you need to demonstrate safe, courteous and progressive driving across a range of road conditions.

Extended Test Instruction

Extended tests need to be taken as a result of a driving conviction, such as a ban or dangerous or careless driving. Before you will be allowed to obtain your licence, you may have to take an extended test to demonstrate your driving abilities. We can help you to brush up your skills and correct driving technique so that you are fully prepared for your test.

We will work closely with you to bring your driving to a very high standard and build on your current skills of driving. We will ensure you are fully prepared for your test and accompany you if you wish to support you and assist you with any questions or issues that may arise.

We will draw up with you, action plans, correct driving procedure and modern driving practice, along with professional advice, guidance and support from professional ADI and Fleet qualified instructors who are specialists in their field.

NVQ in Driving Instruction

This is a level 3 qualification and accredited through professional awarding bodies. It is designed for Driving Instructors (ADIs) and builds on their current knowledge of professional driving instruction. It is a recognised part of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and covers a range of subject areas including Customer Care, Coaching, Mentoring, Supervising Learner Progress and Supervising Learner Drivers including Health and Safety, as well as other units to develop professional competence in driving instruction.
